Walton High School Career Academy Views “Real World Applications” at Hunters Ridge

Walton High School Career Academy visited the Hunters Ridge neighborhood on Wednesday, April 28th. “Walton High School principal, Russell Hughes, had mentioned the possibility of the visit with me earlier this year and we were excited to be sharing the hands-on knowledge of building homes with these students. (Marketing Director: Judy McAnnally) The visit was arranged by Mrs. Anna Cramer who teaches at the Academy and she had this to add. “The Walton High School Career Academy students were excited to make solid connections between their classroom experiences and real-world applications as we visited Hunters Ridge. It’s incredible to be able to give our students hands-on experiences, such as this, by utilizing our local resources. We would like to thank Hunters Ridge for providing this unique opportunity and we look forward to the possibility of working with them again in the future.”

The students were able to view homes in different phases of construction. The visit began with Michael Jenkins, the developer of Hunters Ridge, explaining how the land was developed and the process of putting in roads and utilities. Then builder Chris Taylor of Centurion Construction walked them through a home where the walls were not covering any of the inner workings of the home. “Basically we have a home under construction where the insulation and sheet rock have not been installed. The students could see the electrical wiring, air conditioning duct work, and the plumbing in the raw stages of construction. They asked some really good questions. I hope they enjoyed their visit, and that they learned a little bit about what it takes to pursue building homes as a profession.” (Chris Taylor, Centurion Construction of NW FL, Inc.)

Press Release March 6, 2009

Walton High School students were recognized for their academic efforts on Friday, February 27th at the Wee Care Park. Judy McAnnally and Belinda Jones of Hunters Ridge were on hand to support the celebration as they served the students pizza and hotdogs and watched them play football, volleyball, socialize and dance. Principal Russell Hughes expressed his gratitude for the partnership of Hunter’s Ridge, Bright House, Wal-Mart and Pizza Hut for without their support the students would not have had the recognition they so richly deserved. This effort demonstrated to the students that not only is Walton High School proud of their accomplishments but the community is also behind them 100% and that we are committed to “Linking Learning to Life – One Chop From The Top”.

The Centurion Companies Announces New Marketing Director

Judy McAnnally, a licensed realtor with Centurion Properties, has recently joined The Centurion Companies as their Marketing Director. She joins Centurion after working for local development company Olson & Associates for over 3 years. When Michael Jenkins, CEO of the Centurion Companies, began looking for a fresh way to market the company’s assets it became apparent that a new position would need to be filled. “With the down turn of the market we have seen a huge rise in inventory. Having Judy focused on our diverse portfolio of commercial and residential property has so many benefits and we are excited to have her on board.” Ms. McAnnally will operate out of the company’s new Bay Grove Office Park located in Freeport, but will also be very involved in their projects in Defuniak Springs, and Santa Rosa Beach.
McAnnally has been a licensed realtor in Florida since 2005. She has worked exclusively for developers during that time, has a strong background in lighting design, and majored in Communications at UAB.
